KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Service Department (PSD) is expected to table its full report on 63 students who were seeking scholarship from the department in the next Cabinet meeting.

Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik in a statement said he had brought the matter during the Cabinet meeting last week and would continue to monitor its development.

“This is to ensure the students’ welfare in getting scholarships to fund their studies is being taken care of.

“I also would like to thank Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for his concern on the matter.

“As I have mentioned before, I sympathise with their situation. However, the ministry also understands the constraints faced by PSD, in terms of finance.

“I believe that with cooperation from all parties, we will be able to solve this matter,” he said.

It was reported that the 63 students were seeking scholarships from PSD to study overseas.

The students had submitted their petition three months ago and were told that they would have to wait for the paper to be presented to the Cabinet.

The students however have not received any feedback from PSD, after the department said that it was waiting to present the paper to Cabinet.
