Ground level house for family of girl who fell from balcony of 17th floor PPR unit

KUALA LUMPUR: The Housing and Local Government Ministry will provide a unit on the ground floor for the family of four-year-old Siti Nur Nadhirah Khairul Anuar, who died after falling from the balcony of a unit on the 17th floor of a People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Kota Damansara last Thursday.

Its minister, Zuraida Kamaruddin said the ministry had discussed with the state government on the need to provide a suitable house for the family concerned to help them to overcome the trauma from the incident.

“We understand that they are still sad and need moral support to overcome their trauma. So, they will stay on the ground floor.

“With the new environment, it is hoped they will feel more comfortable and calm,” he told reporters after visiting the family today.

The incident occurred at 7am when Siti Nur Nadhirah’s parents were away selling nasi lemak in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam and her 14-year-old sister Siti Nur Natasya, went to send her seven-year-old brother to a kindergarten in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, Zuraida said the ministry would announce a new policy, “Kasih, Anakku Anakmu” (Love, My Child Your Child) at all PPR housing aimed at instilling the spirit of neighbourliness and unity among residents.

“Mothers who are free will take turn to help take care of neighbours’ children, especially whose parents are working. By doing this, there will be adults monitoring the children,” she added. - Bernama
