Tun M: Let MACC investigate on ministry's tender awarding claims

PUTRAJAYA: The graft busters will investigate allegations relating to a ministry which had awarded contracts directly without going through open tenders.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said this today when asked about the claims which also alleged to have an involvement of a minister’s son of the same ministry.

“The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will investigate,” he told reporters after chairing a Special Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corruption meeting here.

Recently, sources said the minister’s son allegedly had “control” over the ministry’s activities, including in awarding tenders.

A check has revealed that the person was not listed in the directory of the said minister’s office.

The ministry, when contacted, declined to provide any details, but had allowed the MACC to conduct its investigations.
