Tajuddin: Perak state government unstable, could fall at any time

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman Tajudin claimed today that the Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) state government is unstable and could fall at any time.

The Pasir Salak Member of Parliament said the situation has deteriorated to the point that the state exco is unable to hold meetings.

Tajuddin’s comments come amidst allegations that several Perak Umno assemblymen are conspiring with PH exco members to oust Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

Perak PH deputy chairman, Nga Kor Ming, affirmed today that there is indeed a plan to topple the MB, citing a confession on the matter by Perak Amanah chairman, Asmuni Awi and former Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, made yesterday.

“I feel that anything can happen (at any time) in Perak. Barisan Nasional will wait and see,” said Tajuddin.

“(The government) can be changed (at any time). Reason is, DAP is not happy with the Menteri Besar.

“There are rumours that DAP will nominate its own (member) for the post,” he said.

Tajuddin added that Ahmad Faizal is under pressure for failing to fulfil some of the promises made by PH to the Perak people, especially “DAP’s 999-year land lease”.

“(As for Umno), we are a big block in Perak, with 25 state assemblymen; and Pas, which is very, very friendly with (us) has three seats,” he told reporters at Parliament’s lobby here, today.

Tajuddin had been asked to comment on numerous claims that trouble is brewing for the Perak state government.

On Nov 25, state Umno liaison chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad claimed that at least five of the party’s assemblymen had been approached by exco members to back their plan to pass a no confidence vote against Ahmad Faizal.

However, he said that the Umno assemblymen vowed not to participate in the plot, preferring to be voted in as the state government via a legitimate election process.

“The formula (the conspirators are) working on is... with 18 DAP reps, six Parti Amanah Negara reps and four PKR reps in support (they will succeed). Three, including Ahmad Faizal himself, Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi and Datuk Zainol Fadzi Pah (are excluded),” Tajuddin said.
