PKNS gives RM462,000 to repair homes of underprivileged families in Gombak

GOMBAK: Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has allocated more than RM462,000 to repair 16 houses of underprivileged families in Gombak here today.

Its chief operating officer Norita Mohd Sidek said they were committed to helping people who live in Selangor through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

“The repairs have been going on since July and half the houses were ready in September and October,” she said.

“PKNS via collaboration with the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) also provides school aid worth RM140,000 for the underprivileged school children.”

Norita said the programme has been going on since 2013 and the total cost untill now was RM2.9 million, she said after extending school aid to underprivileged children here today.

She said the programme to repair houses was implemented Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Sepang, and Gombak.

In the meantime, PKNS was also extending school aid such as school bags and pencil case to 1,959 students in the underprivileged category around Gombak area.

From the amount, 975 was for secondary school children, 929 for primary school children, and 55 for kindergarten pupils.

Also present was LZS chief coordinating officer Abdul Basith Ahmad.

Abdul Basith said a new mechanism would be implemented to und underprivileged people around the state.

“Untill now, zakat has collect RM600 million and I hope it will increase to RM800 million by the end of this year,” he said.
