New Pantai Sentral Park Interchange will help ease traffic congestion

KUALA LUMPUR: The official opening of the Pantai Sentral Park Interchange today will greatly decrease the travel time for those staying in Pantai Dalam and Kerinchi from 50 minutes to 30 minutes especially during peak hours.

With the new interchange, road users can go straight to the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) without having to go through the Jalan Bukit Angkasa’s traffic light intersection.

On top of that the new route will be toll free.

Deputy Works Minister Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir officiated the Pantai Sentral Park Interchange this morning.

In his speech, Mohd Anuar said the interchange project was an example of good initiative between the government and a housing developer in making lives easier for the road users living in the community.

“The whole cost of the interchange project development is RM98 million and is fully paid for by IJM Land Berhad and Amona Development Sdn Bhd.

“With the opening of this interchange, I believe that the traffic congestion in the area will be reduced dramatically hence making the driving experience more smoother for users of the NPE highway and the people around Lembah Pantai,” he said.

Also in attendance was IJM Corporation Berhad Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director Datuk Soam Heng Choon.

Soam said the project is part of the company’s Strategic Development Plan which has far reaching goals of future growth and creating opportunities for the development of the surrounding communities.

“Located at kilometer 11 of the NPE, the interchange is made of three ramps, complete with road lamps and CCTV (closed circuit television cameras) to monitor the safety of road users using the interchange.

“The interchange will also help ease the traffic congestion around Pantai Sentral Park, including Pantai Dalam, Pantai Hill Park and Bangsar South,” he said.

The interchange will be officially opened to the public from 6pm today.
