Applications from the opposition to be discussed within party members and PH: Mat Sabu [NSTTV]

IPOH: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will discuss with its members and Pakatan Harapan (PH) should the party received applications from the opposition members, its president Mohamad Sabu said.

“If we receive any application, we will discuss it first. We will make any decision based on mutual discussions and bring this matter to the Amanah and Pakatan Harapan level,” he said in a press conference at the Amanah National Convention held at Casuarina@Meru Hotel here today.

Asked to comment on the mass exodus of Umno Sabah leaders recently, Mohamad described the move as brilliant.

“For me, it is a brilliant move to leave Umno. The ship is sinking and they (Umno members) must abandon the ship,” he added.

It was reported on Wednesday that five members of parliament, two senators and nine state assemblymen from Sabah had announced their exit from Umno.

The MPs were Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun (Beaufort), Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri (Kudat), Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee (Beluran), Datuk Zakaria Idris (Libaran) and Yamani Hafez Musa (Sipitang).

The assemblymen were Datuk Musbah Jamli (Tempasuk), Datuk Japlin Akin (Usukan), Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor (Sulaman), Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar (Kawang), Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif (Membakut), Datuk Isnin Aliasnih (Klias), Datuk Matbali Musbah (Lumadan), Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (Karanaan) and Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (Apas).

The two Sabah Umno senators, Datuk John Ambrose and Datuk Ghani Yassin, have also left the party.
