Four-year-old girl dies from smoke inhalation

SHAH ALAM: A four-year-old girl died, believed from smoke inhalation, after her house in Section 12 here caught fire last night.

Section 15 Fire and Rescue Station chief Azmel Kamarudin said at first, firemen managed to rescue the girl, Daaniys Humaira Mohd Shafie, her mother Yusmaliza Mohamad Yusof, father Mohd Shafie Mohd Salih, 31, and her younger brother Eiman Haider, one.

“The family suffered severe burns, including Daaniys, who suffered burns on her hands and head.

“However, Daaniys breathed her last on the way to the Shah Alam hospital,” he said when contacted by NSTP today.

Azmel said the fire that broke out 9pm was believed to have started from the reading room of the house, which is located next to the family’s bedrooms.

“The fire spread to the bedrooms. We’re still investigating the cause of the fire,” he said.
