Tribute song for fallen firemen in Puchong mine tragedy a hit

KUALA LUMPUR: About two months ago, two personnel from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Station composed a heartfelt song as a tribute for the six fallen members of Selangor Fire and Rescue Department who drowned in the mine tragedy in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong.

The video of the song, titled ‘Perginya Sahabat Wira’, was uploaded on YouTube and Facebook on Nov 1, and it became an instant hit, with more than 54,000 views.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operation Centre chief Mohd Nurizwan Basri said the three minutes and nine seconds song was composed by its very own personnel to commemorate the services and sacrifices of their friends who died while on duty.

“The song was sang by fireman Izzat Izwan Mohd Noor and written by fireman Mohd Azlan Mohd Noor,” he said when contacted today.

Mohd Nurizwan said the department is also planning to compose a song for Emergency Service Aid Unit (EMRS) of the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim who died on Dec 17, three weeks after he was beaten up during the riot at Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Subang Jaya.

He added that the department has composed many tribute songs for their fallen heroes before.

“In fact, we have a group consisting of personnel and officers who are musically talented. So to compose this song (‘Perginya Sahabat Wira’) was not a problem for us and we’re also planning to write one for Adib,” he said.
