Kepong MP's office offers RM10,000 reward for information on robber

KUALA LUMPUR: Kepong member of the parliament Lim Lip Eng’s office has offered RM10,000 reward to anyone with credible information on the robber who assaulted a woman inside a lift at Taman Mutiara MRT station on Thursday.

In a statement, Lim said the reward was offered by his office on behalf of an outraged anonymous person.

“My office offers a bounty of RM10,000 on behalf of an outraged anonymous for anyone with credible information for the police, leading to the arrest of the robber who assaulted a helpless woman recently.

“The police have yet to identify the assailant. It is hoped that the cash offer will lead to the robber’s arrest immediately

“My biggest fear is that if he is not caught soon, his actions may influence other villains to commit such crimes in a similar fashion in lifts or in some obscure corners all over the country,” he said.

He added anyone with valid information about the assailant’s whereabouts to approach his office in Kepong or email to parlimenkepong@gmail.com.

It was reported that a 48-year-old woman was repeatedly punched and kicked by a robber inside a lift of the MRT station at about 6.45am on Feb 14.

The victim suffered multiple injuries, including bruises on her forehead, after the savage attack.

Suspect escaped with the victim’s purse, containing her ID and ATM cards, as well as RM400 cash.

Meanwhile, City police Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Rusdi Mohd Isa said police had yet to make any arrest in relation to the case.

He said police had thus far recorded statements from three people.

The case was being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code.
