KUANTAN: A convoy of motorcycles returning from an Aidilfitri celebration met with tragedy when two of the vehicles grazed each other, tipped over and spilled their riders onto the Jengka 23 main road in Maran, near here, on Thursday night.
The two riders who fell into the path of an oncoming car were run over and died at the scene in the 10.15pm accident, Bernama reported.
The deceased were identified as Hamdan Mat, 47, and Mohammad Shahrizan Ahmad, 37.
A third rider in the convoy, Abu Bakar Ahmad, 26, was injured in the mishap.
It is learnt that the group had been en route from Jengka 22 to Jengka 23 when the accident occurred.
“It happened at a sharp bend and the driver of the oncoming Proton Waja could not evade them in time.
“The Proton Waja also hit a Honda Civic, which was trailing the convoy,” Maran police chief Superintendent Norzamri Abd Rahman said.
Both the car drivers, aged 54 and 32, escaped unhurt, he added.
