LIPIS: Firemen today went above and beyond the call of duty to rescue a buffalo that had gotten itself stuck in a septic tank at Kampung Bapong near Padang Tengku here.
The adult buffalo had apparently slipped into a sewage tank and luckily, firemen and villagers arrived on time to pull the animal out of its "stinky" predicament.
A Fire and Rescue Department's spokesman said a villager who happened to passed by the area spotted the buffalo trapped inside the tank at 9.20am and alerted the department.
Four firemen were deployed the area and with the help of a group of villagers managed to pull the animal to safety.
They tied a rope around the buffalo's neck and used long poles to guide the animal out.
"It took about 15 minutes to release the animal as the hole was quite deep. The buffalo was not injured and has been reunited with its owner." he said.
