Remains of PKNS staff killed in Turkey to arrive home on Saturday

SHAH ALAM: The remains of Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) personnel Azalan Miswan, 50, who was killed in a an accident in Turkey on Wednesday is expected to arrive home on Saturday.

PKNS corporate communications manager Mahfizul Rusydin Abd Rashid said Azlan’s remains were handed over to the Malaysian Embassy in Ankara at 2am (Turkish time) on Friday for final rites which includes ritual bathing, enshrouding the body in white cotton cloth and funeral prayers.

‘The remains would then be flown to Istanbul before it is repatriated to Malaysia.

“Azalan’s remains which would be accompanied by Azalan’s wife and child would depart Istanbul at 1.30am (Turkish Time) and is expected to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on the same day at about 6.30pm.

Mahfizul said upon arrival, the remains would then be transported to Surau An-Nur, Section 20, Shah Alam, for prayers and Azlan is expected to buried after Isyak at the Section 21 Muslim cemetery.

In addition to Azlan, four other Malaysians who were seriously injured in the accident were receiving treatment at Hospital Afyonkarahisar, Turkey.

On Thursday, PKNS Chief Operating Officer, Norita Mohd Sidek said accident took place after one of tyres of the bus burst.

The accident which took place in Afyonkarahisar saw 10 other Malaysians injured, including the four who were seriously hurt.

There were 35 Malaysian passengers on board a tour bus when the accident occurred en route from Pamukkale to Cappadocia, Turkey.
