Anwar's private secretary lodges police report

KUALA LUMPUR: Efforts are being made to prevent PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from becoming the next prime minister, claims his private secretary, Shukri Saad.

Shukri said the sexual assault allegations made by Muhammed Yusoff Rawther against Anwar yesterday was a conspiracy to stop the Port Dickson member of parliament from taking power as the country’s future leader.

He said the accusations were false and malicious and had been repeated countless times.

Shukri lodged a report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters here today and urged police to investigate Yusoff over his statutory declaration on Dec 4.

“I strongly deny that statement and I am leaving it to the police to carry out their investigations.

“We will review and see if any legal action can be taken against Yusoff,” he said.

Referring to Yusuf’s statutory declaration as trivial, Shukri said the allegations seemed to indicate plans being put in place to thwart the transition of power involving Anwar.

At a press conference yesterday, Yusoff in his statutory declaration claimed that a senior politician committed a crime that he described as cruel, gross, hidden, unIslamic, dangerous and immoral.

Anwar in referring to the statutory declaration by Yusoff, denied the allegations.
