IGP welcomes new year with renewed spirit

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are determined to improve on teamwork and personal development next year for the interest of the public and nation, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said today.

He hoped that in 2020, the force would embrace challenges with a renewed spirit and determination.

“We went through various experiences which had matured us in 2019, to prepare ourselves for a better future in 2020,” he said.

Abdul Hamid, in a statement on the police official Facebook, said he hoped that the police would continue to strive for success and be steadfast in facing any future challenges.

“To all members of the force, let us start this new year, by being firm and determined to stay true to our pledge and intention.

"We must carry our duty with sincerity and accountability in upholding on what is makruf (good) and preventing on what is mungkar (forbidden),” he said.

He also called on the force to realised the spirit of “Polis dan Masyarakat Berpisah Tiada”, so it would not only be a rhetoric, but would be one of the ways for the team to delve deeper into the wishes and aspirations of the public to the police.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish for a Happy New Year 2020 to the police force and all Malaysian with a prayer and hope that the unity and ties among the multiracial public would continue to preserve,” he said.

Abdul Hamid called for everybody to make this country a peaceful and prosperous one.
