35-year-old man is Malaysia's 24th Covid-19 fatality

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry reported another Covid-19 fatality in Malaysia today, bringing the death toll from the coronavirus in the country to 24.

The deceased was a 35-year-old Malaysian man who had travelled to Indonesia earlier this month.

“(He) began to have symptoms five days before being admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital here on March 18.

“The results of the Covid-19 test found him positive with the virus on March 20.

“His health deteriorated day by day and he passed away on March 26 (yesterday) at 9.30pm,” Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement on his official Facebook account today.

The Health Ministry expressed its condolences to family members of the patient.

As of noon on Thursday, Malaysia recorded 2,031 Covid-19 infections – the highest tally in Southeast Asia.
