New Covid-19 cluster detected at Gombak district police headquarters

PUTRAJAYA: A new Covid-19 cluster was detected at the Gombak district police headquarters with five positive cases recorded so far.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cluster involved staff at the police headquarters with one new case detected today (Sunday).

"The positive cases were detected following active random surveillance exercise," he said at a press conference today.

He said investigation was ongoing to find the infection source and carry out contact tracing, adding those tested positive had been isolated and were being treated.

On the two Bangladeshis, who were nabbed, for their involvement in the issuance of fake negative Covid-19 screening test results for foreigners, Dr Noor Hisham said the ministry would not issue any letter or wristband to those tested negative for Covid-19.

He also said the Covid-19 test results were only valid at the time of testing.

Earlier today, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the two men were arrested in two raids at Jalan Alor, while they were on "counter duty" at 5.40pm.

Mazlan said the counters were set up at the sidewalk in front of shops at Jalan Alor and had been operating for one to two weeks, with each screening test result document being sold for RM50.

He said the two Bangladeshis targeted foreigners as their clients, and the duo were working for an estimated salary of between RM1,500 and RM1,700 a month.
