KUALA LUMPUR: Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad (SCBMB) contributed RM150,000 to the Media Prima - NSTP Covid-19 humanitarian fund.

SCBMB managing director and chief executive officer Abrar A Anwar presented the check to Media Prima Group managing director Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood today.

"Choosing a credible entity like Media Prima (to channel SCBMB contribution) is the right move based on its track record.

"This is the first time we have collaborated with Media Prima (in the fight against) Covid-19. We can consider working together again in other projects to ensure the prosperity of the country and its people," Abrar said.

Launched on March 23, the fund has collected over RM1.9 million to date.

The collected donations are used to assist medical/surgical/clinical teams especially those at government hospitals to break the infection chain of the deadly virus.

The fund has so far facilitated the distribution of essential medical equipment, food, goods and personal protective equipment (PPE) worth about RM1.4 million to 20 hospitals including the Kuala Lumpur Hospital; Sungai Buloh Hospital; Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar, Perlis, and Sultan Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.
