Covid-19 hotspots in Subang Jaya? Fake, says police

KUALA LUMPUR: A viral message on social media asking the public to avoid certain areas in Subang Jaya supposedly due to them being Covid-19 hotspots, is untrue.

A spokesman from the Subang Jaya district police told the New Straits Times that the claim that two people from these areas tested positive for the virus is false.

He also said that the claim that these areas were now hotspot areas and off-limits to the public, based on the list of hotspot areas mentioned in the MySejahtera app, was also not factual.

"Yes, we received it (the viral message) but it is fake. It is not true," said a police spokesman on the matter.

The viral message was posted by a Twitter account holder bearing the name PJ who had "advised" those in Subang Jaya to check their MySejahtera app hotspot feature.

The Twitter user claimed there are two individuals who had contracted Covid-19 in the areas mentioned.

"Dear Subang friends, check the MySejahtera app hotspot - avoid Empire, Subang Parade, and Mydin area. 2 persons contracted Covid," it read.
