Covid-19: Kelantan's Mengketil cluster now at 47 cases

KOTA BARU: All seven Covid-19 cases reported in Kelantan as of noon today were from the Mengketil cluster, bringing the figure to 47.

Kelantan Local Government, Health and Housing Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin in his Facebook post said three of the cases were reported in Pasir Mas, two in Machang and one each in Tanah Merah and Kota Baru.

"A total of 71 patients are still being warded at a few hospitals in the state," Dr Izani said.

He said Kota Baru and Machang districts had been gazetted as orange zones while eight other districts in the state were placed under yellow and green zones.

Districts that are yellow zones are Tanah Merah, Pasir Mas, Jeli and Kuala Krai, while Tumpat, Bachok, Pasir Putih and Gua Musang are green zones.

On the Kube cluster, Dr Izani said there have been no new cases, with the number of cases from the cluster remaining at 24.

Meanwhile, state health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the situation in the state was still under control despite a drastic rise of cases from the Mengketil cluster.

"The department hopes that the public will continue to follow all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to curb the spread of the virus," he added.
