PETALING JAYA: Police have opened an investigation paper into an incident in which a traffic policeman allegedly punched a motorcyclist during an inspection at Km28.3 of the Federal Highway heading to Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said they have since received a report from the motorcyclist on the incident.
"Following the report, we opened an investigation paper related to the incident under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
"We took statements from both the motorcyclist and the policeman to assist in the investigation.
"The policeman has since been transferred to office duty," he said when contacted today.
Yesterday, Harian Metro reported that the policeman made a report denying that he assaulted the motorcyclist after a 37-second video of the incident went viral on social media.
