MySejahtera updated for pregnant women, breastfeeding mums

KUALA LUMPUR: Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers can now update their status on the MySejahtera mobile application, said Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP) Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said this new feature would allow women to enter the month and year of delivery, or breastfeeding status.

"Your appointment will be based on the vaccine that is suitable for you at a particular PPV (vaccination centre)," he tweeted this morning.

According to the present guidelines, vaccination is recommended for women who are 14 to 33 weeks pregnant as well as lactating mothers.

Khairy had previously said that this group, however, should consult their respective doctors on getting Covid-19 vaccination.

Currently, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is recommended for both soon-to-be and breastfeeding mothers.

The AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine is only recommended for nursing mothers.

Meanwhile, in an earlier tweet, Khairy tweeted that the Sinovac vaccine had now been approved by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

"This global recognition is a boost of confidence as our 12 million doses of Sinovac will ensure that 18 per cent of our population benefit from the vaccine.

"It's safe and effective," he added.
