38-week-old baby is youngest Malaysian Covid-19 victim

KUALA LUMPUR: A baby boy is reportedly now the youngest fatality of Covid-19 since the pandemic struck the nation last year.

The heartbreaking story of the 38-week-old baby's death was shared by the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) via a Facebook posting this evening.

In the posting, Jawi said the baby's remains were buried at the Raudhatul Sakinah Islamic Cemetery, Taman Selaseh near here, tonight.

As if that was not enough, the baby's mother is now fighting for her life at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Ampang, while the father and eight other children are undergoing quarantine at home.

"Oh Allah... we are saddened by the silence which greeted us tonight, the first time we received the remains of the youngest Covid-19 victim, a 38-week-old baby boy at the Raudhatul Sakinah Islamic Cemetery KL-Karak, Taman Selaseh.

"May perseverance be bestowed on all family members. Insya-Allah, this little boy is waiting in heaven, providing intercession for both his parents in the hereafter," said the posting.

Meanwhile, several social media users expressed their condolences and prayed for the well-being of the baby's family.

"Condolences to the family of the deceased. May this family be given a cure and all transactions conducted with ease," said Facebook user, Normah Mahmood.

"May the mother recover and family members be given strength. Wait for mother and father there," said another social media user, Azlina Ngah.
