Flexibility, special privileges for the fully vaccinated to be announced soon

KUALA LUMPUR: In the next few days, the government is expected to announce flexibility or special privileges for those who have completed both doses of their Covid-19 vaccination.

Providing some insight into the matter, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the privileges include allowing long-distance married couples to cross-district or state borders to meet their spouses as well as the resumption of certain activities including sports and dine-ins.

He hoped that the relaxation over the measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 given to those who have been fully vaccinated would bring some relief amidst the ongoing pandemic.

"This is something of interest to me as well. Because I have gotten double dose, you have gotten double dose. The question that the people are asking, are we going to be given some flexibility?" he said in a special media interview in Putrajaya today.

He informed that the government has been looking into the flexibilities or special privileges for those who have been completed both doses of their vaccination.

"Within the next few days, we will be finalising this," he said.

Elaborating further on the privileges, Muhyiddin added for husbands and wives, who are in a long-distance relationship, they would be able to cross state or district borders provided both have been fully vaccinated.

"I am just giving some insight into the things that the government is looking into, but I think within the next few days, we will finalise this, I will announce it as a total package including other areas such as sports and social activities including dine-ins," he said.

Muhyiddin added among other privileges being looked into by the government include allowing fully vaccinated travellers arriving in the country to quarantine at home instead of at hotels or quarantine centres.

"We are mulling some options for travellers or Malaysians returning from abroad or travellers who have completed vaccination wishing to enter the country.

"They can undergo quarantine at home instead of at a hotel or a centre. This will save their costs.

"They may be given a wrist tracker and they will have to undergo a swab test before ending their quarantine," he said.
