Nurse killed in car crash in Jalan Kuala Krai

KOTA BARU: A 35-year-old nurse who was on her way to work at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII) died in a crash in Jalan Kuala Krai today.

Wan Nurintan Farahida Wan Hasan suffered head and bodily injuries, and died on the spot during the 2.15pm incident.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Daud said the victim was travelling from Wakaf Che Yeh to Kota Baru when she lost control of her car.

"The car skidded to the left side of the road and rammed into an electric pole and a nearby shop. The impact resulted in the victim being pinned in the wrecked car," he added.

Rahim said other motorists helped to pull out the victim from the wrecked car before contacting the police.

Her body was later sent to Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) for a post-mortem.

Rahim said police were still investigating the case and urged witnesses to contact them to assist investigations.

There was no one inside the shop when the incident happened as it was closed today. The incident caused heavy traffic congestion along the road until 5pm.
