Life 'hardly a box of chocolates' for single mum with 5 kids

NILAI: A mother of five is doing everything she can to support her family, including selling beverages by the roadside for the past six months.

Siti Nurliza Ahmad Sabri, who lives at Taman Desa Jasmin, said her options to earn more income for her family were restricted since she is suffering from gallstones which limit her movements.

The 32-year-old said she frequently could not open shop due to her poor health and her eldest son, 14, had to take over most of the tasks at home.

"Since my husband left us, I have had to rely on the sales made from selling beverages to support the family. My doctor told me that I had gallstones and my condition worsened during my pregnancy of my youngest child.

"I have been advised to undergo surgery, but it will be tough due to financial constraints. I do not know what more I can do to earn more income.

"I am behind on my rent and monthly car payments. It is a matter of time before the bank repossesses the car. I also have to address the loans taken up by my husband."

Siti Nurliza said she was, however, lucky to have a friend who helped her start a small home business selling chocolates since she could not go out to work.

Nonetheless, she expressed her hope on finding a stable job that could be done from home or online.

"I am willing to do whatever it takes for the sake of my children, who are still young. My youngest is only nine months old."
