4,334 new Covid-19 cases, Klang Valley and Selangor top list

KUALA LUMPUR: The country yesterday logged 4,334 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative caseload to 4,732,502.

More than half of the fresh infections were detected in the Klang Valley and Selangor.

A total of 1,830 cases were detected in Selangor followed by 829 in Kuala Lumpur and 104 in Putrajaya.

Data from the Health Ministry's portal CovidNow showed that 4,328 were local transmissions, while the remaining six were imported.

There are 44,617 active Covid-19 cases nationwide and of that, 96.2 per cent or 42,926 cases are observing the mandatory home quarantine.

About 3.6 per cent of them, or 1,595 cases are receiving treatment in hospitals, 28 cases are at the Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centres, the Intensive Care Unit has 68 cases and 44 cases require breathing assistance.

As of yesterday, the ICU utilisation rate across the country is at 58.5 per cent with 18.2 per cent of them being Covid-19 patients.

There were four deaths recorded on Saturday, including one brought-in-dead case.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 36,080 cases with 7,669 patients dying before they were able to get medical help.

There were 5,082 Covid-19 recoveries yesterday, bringing the total number of patients who have recovered from their infections to 4,651,805.
