This should never happen again, says Ras Adiba on Bella's case

KUALA LUMPUR: Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi hoped that the case involving Bella, would never happen to anyone else again.

She said the case serves as a reminder to others to not commit such acts towards persons with disability (PWD), especially children.

"After Bella's case, I hope no one will mess with the PWD community again, especially children.

"I urge all parties to not let the things that happened to Bella happen to other children and persons with disabilities out there," she told reporters when met after today's proceeding at Kuala Lumpur Court Complex.

Earlier today, Sessions Court judge Izralizam Sanusi found Siti Bainun Ahd Razali guilty of abusing and neglecting her adopted daughter, who has Down Syndrome, and sentenced her to 22 years behind bars.

Izralizam sentenced the 31 year-old to 10 years imprisonment for neglecting Bella, and 12 years of imprisonment for abusing the victim.

He also ordered Siti Bainun to serve the sentences concurrently from today.

Ras Adiba further said the fight to ensure the voices of persons with disabilities are heard and that they are free from harm, will never stop.

"This is not the end of the road. I will continue to fight for the voices of disabled children and persons with disabilities out there so that they are not harmed.

"I urge all Malaysians out there to be our eyes and ears in helping us to ensure that disabled children are not neglected or abused."
