Negri Sembilan appoints Dr Mohd Faudzinaim as new mufti

SEREMBAN: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Centre for Religious Studies and Philosophy, Faculty of Islamic Studies chairman, Associate Professor Dr Mohd Faudzinaim Badarudin has been appointed as the new Mufti of Negri Sembilan.

The Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, announced that Faudzinaim's appointment took effect on Oct 1, replacing the former mufti, Datuk Mohd Yusof Ahmad, who retired.

"Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr Faudzinaim on his appointment as the state mufti of Negri Sembilan. He is a member of the Negri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council (Mains), the State Fatwa Committee, and the Negri Sembilan Sufi Tariqah Council. He holds a PhD from the University of London (1998) and a Master's degree from the same university (1992), as well as a Bachelor's degree from UKM (1989).

"With qualifications and expertise in the fields of theology and mysticism, I hope he can contribute to the development of Islamic propagation, especially for the people of Negri Sembilan," he said in a statement.

Faudzinaim, 58, born in Tanjong Ipoh, Kuala Pilah, received his early education at the Sheikh Haji Mohd Said National Religious Secondary School in Seremban and continued his studies at UKM, pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies (Hons) at the Faculty of Islamic Studies.

Aminuddin, who is also the State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman, said that Faudzinaim has extensive work experience, starting as a tutor in the Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, UKM.

He further mentioned that Faudzinaim pursued his Master's degree at the University of London (1991-1992) and a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies from 1992 to 1998.

"Faudzinaim began his service as a tutor in the Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, UKM, and later as a lecturer in the same department, eventually holding the position of senior lecturer starting from Feb 1, 2005.

"He later assumed the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy, Faculty of Islamic Studies, UKM, starting in 2007.

"We wish him success in his service, and may he carry out the entrusted duties with utmost sincerity for our beloved Negri Sembilan," he added.
