Former IGP Acryl tops list of 1,209 Sabah State Award honourees

KOTA KINABALU: Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani heads the list of 1,209 recipients of Sabah state awards in conjunction with the 70th birthday of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin tomorrow.

Acryl and Federation of Alumni Association of Taiwan Universities (Alumni) Malaysia president Datuk Dr Tang Yong Chew are the only two conferred with the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK) award, which carries the title "Datuk Seri Panglima".

For the Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) award, 88 recipients will carry the title "Datuk".

Among those who received the PGDK award are state elected representatives Hendrus Anding (PBS-Tandek) and Jonnybone Kurum (PBS-Telupid); Samad Jambri @ Jamri (Gagasan-Labuk), George Hiew Vun Zin (Gagasan-Karamunting) and Norazlinah Arif (Gagasan-Kunak); Phoong Jin Zhe (DAP-Luyang); as well as Mokran Ingkat (Umno-Sungai Manila).

Members of Parliament Chan Foong Hin (DAP-Kota Kinabalu), Datuk Arthur Kurup (PBRS-Pensiangan), Lo Su Fui (PBS-Tawau), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud (DAP-Sepanggar) are also the recipients.

Among enforcement personnel who received the said award are Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Habibi Majinji, Sabah deputy police chief Deputy Commissioner Shahurinain Jais, Eastern Sabah Security Command commander Deputy Commissioner Victor Sanjos, and Fifth Infantry Division commander Major General Malek Razak Sulaiman among others.

Also on the list are Sabah Health director Dr Asits Sanna, Sabah Law Society president Roger Chin, Sandakan High Court judge Celestina Stuel Galid, and singer Frencis Landong.

The eight recipients of the Justice of Peace Award are Datuk Awang Shahiman Sahari, Datuk Chee Chi Nyen, Datuk Chu Chun Tau, Datuk Nor Asiah Mohd Yusof, Datuk Osman Jamal, Suzeinah Saulkmen, Teong Bert Deen and Mohamed Nazim Maduarin.

Other awards, namely the Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu, will be awarded to 18 recipients, Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (228), Bintang Kinabalu (310), Bintang Setia Kinabalu (281) and Certificate of Honour (174).
