MAB told to resolve e-boarding SOP issue

SEPANG: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has given his assurance that the management of Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) will resolve ongoing issues with its standard operating procedure (SOP) for e-boarding passes.

Loke said his ministry would contact MAB to investigate the issue and resolve it.

"This is an issue involving the management of MAB, and I will request them to resolve the matter. The ministry will not be involved in this matter."

"The problems that have arisen do not involve government policies, especially the Transport Ministry. It can be resolved at the management level of Malaysia Airlines.

"I am confident they will take action regarding the concerns raised," he told reporters at the International Rail Symposium today.

Yesterday, former transport minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong called on the management of Malaysia Airlines Bhd to revise its SOP for e-boarding passes.

This was following an incident where a woman had completed e-boarding procedures for her father and herself at the Senai Airport but he was not allowed to enter the security check area and board the flight.

This was due to the restriction that only one e-boarding pass is allowed on each mobile device, and her father did not have a mobile phone.

The woman informed Wee that the guard at the counter told her that only Malaysia Airlines had that rule.

Wee also questioned why the SOP for e-boarding at the Senai Airport differed from KLIA.
