KULIM: A search and rescue (SAR) operation is underway to locate Mohd Hafiz Jasmi, a 38-year-old teacher who has gone missing in Sedim Recreational Park since yesterday.
State Fire and Rescue Department Zone 3 chief Rahimi Ali said the SAR operation was initiated yesterday evening following information received from the police about a missing person case.
"Rescuers from the Kulim Hitech were dispatched to the scene after being alerted about the missing person case about 4.25pm yesterday.
The SAR was mounted following the discovery of a Proton Saga believed to belong to the teacher at the site. The operation was resumed about 8.30 am today," he said in a statement.
Rahimi mentioned that the SAR operation involves assistance from the canine unit.
The teams are divided into three groups to search three zones: Gunung Bintang peak, the ground area, and the hiking track.
As of 6.30 pm, the SAR teams have yet to locate the missing teacher.
