Factory worker killed in Baling crash

BALING: A 21-year-old factory worker was killed while two others escaped with minor injuries in a crash involving two motorcycles and a car at Jalan Batu 42 near Kampung Sungai Limau here today.

In the 6.30am incident, Muhammad Sayuti Mohamad Shafie who was travelling to work died on the spot due to severe head injuries.

Baling district police chief Shamsudin Mamat said the victim was heading from Kampung Lalang towards Batu 42 on his motorcycle before it veered off the road and collided with a Perodua Bezza coming from the opposite direction.

"The deceased's motorcycle grazed the rear end of another motorcycle in the front. Subsequently, he lost control and veered off to the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the Perodua Bezza.

"The rider was thrown off his motorcycle and fell onto the middle of the road and died from severe head injuries," he said in a statement today.

Shamsudin said the other motorcyclist, Muhammad Imran Hasif Abdul Khalid, 33, sustained minor injuries to his right arm while the driver of the car, Mohd Saiful Hazim Othman, 31, sustained minor injuries to his left arm.

The victim's body has been sent to Kulim Hospital for a post-mortem.
