Foreign woman sustains serious injuries after she fell from second floor of shophouse [NSTTV]

KLANG: A Vietnamese woman sustained serious injuries after she fell from the second floor of a shophouse in Bandar Baru Klang, on Sunday.

Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner S. Vijaya Rao said police received a distress call about an injured woman, lying outside a cafe at 4.15pm and rushed to the scene.

"Upon arriving at the scene police found the woman, who is believed to have fallen from the second floor of the shophouse, injured but alive.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, police believe that the woman had tried to jump from the second floor window," he said.

Vijaya Rao said checks also showed that the woman had asked for a divorce from her husband in Vietnam but was denied and that he recently was arrested by the local authorities.

"Apparently the woman has also been in dispute with her in-laws who refused to surrender her child back to her, which allegedly caused her to attempt suicide," he said in a statement today.

He said in the incident, the unconscious woman suffered severe head injuries and she was rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for treatment.

Vijaya Rao urged anyone with information about the case to contact the district police or any nearest police station.
