Silence is deafening, mother of MCKK bullying victim seeks update from AGC

KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General Chambers should provide an update on the bullying case at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar, which resulted in a Form 4 student suffering groin injuries last year.

The victim's mother, who wanted to be known as Puan F, told a news portal that the Education Ministry had "failed" them on the bullying case and hoped the police and the AGC would not do the same.

She was commenting on education minister Fadhlina Sidek's statement, saying that the ministry had completed its internal investigation on the case and submitted its findings to the authorities for further action.

"We're just hoping and waiting for the AGC's decision. I'm hoping they'll take action and not just shelve the case as a cold one.

"An update would be good to know they didn't forget about us. Otherwise, we'd just be left in the dark. What will happen after SPM examinations conclude in March?" she said, adding that "the silence is deafening."

Earlier today, Fadhlina said the ministry is waiting for the relevant authorities to take action.

On Nov 6 last year, police confirmed receiving a report on an alleged bullying incident that involved Form Four and Five students at MCKK in Perak.

Kuala Kangsar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob had said that police came across viral messages relating to the incident on Nov 4 after it was posted on Instagram.

The bullying allegedly occurred on Sept 24 last year. Still, the frustrated mother of the victim had expressed unhappiness over the delayed outcome of the probe by the authorities.

In the incident, the victim, who is a Form Four student, was allegedly beaten up by a group of Form Five students.

The school authorities then took the victim to the Kuala Kangsar Hospital. However, medical checks found that the victim did not suffer any serious injuries.
