KEPALA BATAS: A classroom at SK Lahar Yooi on Jalan Merbau Kudong here was partially engulfed in flames this morning.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The Tasek Gelugor fire and rescue station received an alert about the fire around 8:06 am.
Operations officer Mohammad Fikhri Abdul Aziz stated that, at the time of the incident, the pupils were in the hall for a program.
"The gardener noticed smoke emanating from the classroom, and all the pupils were in the hall at that time.
"When we arrived, we observed that the fire had partially consumed the furniture, such as tables and chairs," he said.
Mohammad Fikhri mentioned that the fire also affected the structure of the classroom building.
"Damages are estimated at 10 percent, and we are currently extinguishing the fire.
"The cause of the fire and the extent of losses are still under investigation," he added.
