'Aman Satu on the air': IGP checks logs and orders all Kajang police patrol vehicles to report status [Watch]

KUALA LUMPUR: It must have come as a shock for patrolmen in the Kajang police district when they heard the call sign "Aman Satu" on the air yesterday.

This is as the call sign is that of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The nation's top police officer conducted a surprise visit to the Kajang police headquarters command centre (DCC).

In a post on Facebook, Razarudin was seen arriving at the DCC to inspect the district police headquarters' daily operations.

He was seen checking the patrol logs and assisting the policeman on duty in some calculations regarding the movement of the patrols.

"If we look at the speedometer for the hour's duration, we see that he had conducted a patrol distance of 15km.

"We need to know where he had patrolled as it's only 15km in an hour," Razarudin was heard saying to the sergeant on duty.

He then went on the police radio and hailed all patrol vehicles in the area, ordering the patrolmen to report their statuses and whereabouts.

Razarudin also took the opportunity to convey a message to all his men out in the field to always be committed in executing their duties aside from prioritising their safety.

On Feb 2, Razarudin had warned police chiefs that he would hold them responsible for any infractions by their subordinates.

He insisted that these officers, particularly district police chiefs, must step it up when it comes to leading their entire teams under their respective jurisdictions.

He also did not mince his words when he told all supervisors in the police force to create a conducive work environment based on integrity.
