Whale kite steals the show at Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival 2024

JOHOR BARU: The Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival 2024 witnessed a captivating display as a giant whale-shaped kite, brought by the Johor Kite Flyers Association (PELAYANG) soared high at Bukit Layang-Layang, Media Digital Johor reported.

This spectacle drew considerable public interest, adding a unique touch to the festival's 26th iteration.

Mohammad Bokhari Bakri, a 47-year-old veteran kite enthusiast with 22 years of experience, shared that this modern kite was acquired by the association last year and made its debut appearance in Pasir Gudang's skies during the festival.

In addition to the whale kite, hundreds of other kites were flown during the event by both local participants and visitors, enriching the vibrant display.

A notable highlight of this year's festival, which is a key event in the Johor Tourism Event Calendar, will be the night-time performance of LED kites controlled remotely, expected to attract numerous visitors.

The event, which runs from Feb 24 to March 3, will be packed with a variety of activities, including religious talks, live performances by artists, a sales and exhibition expo, karaoke competitions, dance and band performances, and kite shows featuring national and international participants.
