Sabah CM thanks civil servants for supporting state govt

KOTA KINABALU: Federal and state civil servants are urged to give their full support to the government, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today.

He said the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-led government had until September next year to complete its tenure.

He said the state election could be held at any time until the end of the term.

Hajiji thanked civil servants for their cooperation, support and endorsement of the state government's policies.

"The civil service is part of the government machinery. Civil servants drive the government delivery system.

"Whether fast or slow, effective or ineffective, the government delivery system depends on civil servants."

He said this when addressing state and federal civil servants here.

Meanwhile, he said the government strove to improve the state civil service by establishing integrity and anti-corruption policies.

"This matter deserves serious attention, as civil servants have been involved in issues involving integrity, wastage and abuse of power.

"These tarnish the image of the civil service, which should practise a clean, efficient and trustworthy work culture.

"A work culture lacking integrity and engaging in abuse of power will destroy the government delivery system, harm the state and the country, and destroy the future of civil servants themselves."
