ISKANDAR PUTERI: A 17-year-old girl riding pillion was killed when the motorcycle she was on crashed into a lorry, and landed beneath its rear tyres at Km33 of Johor Baru-Gelang Patah-Pendas, here, yesterday.
In the 3.40pm incident, the victim and her 19-year-old sister were on the motorcycle heading towards Gelang Patah, when the lorry ahead of them took a left turn.
The motorcyclist was allegedly unable to stop in time and crashed into the lorry's rear, before they both fell off the bike and landed under the lorry's left tyre.
The lorry driver ran over both victims, crashing the teen's skull, and her sister's leg.
Iskandar Puteri acting police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Mat Som said the teen was killed instantly, while the 19-year was rushed to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
Her left leg was mangled by lorry tyres.
It is believed the lorry driver was not aware that the girls were underneath his lorry as the girls were crushed at a spot which was on the driver's blind-side.
