TANAH MERAH: A 70-year-old factory owner died after an iron gate fell on him in the Tanah Merah industrial area yesterday.
District police chief Superintendent Mohd Haki Hasbullah said the victim died instantly in the 3pm incident.
He said police received a report on the incident at about 3.30pm and immediately sent a team to investigate the case.
"The victim was closing the gate when it suddenly fell on him and was crushed to death.
"He was stuck underneath the iron gate and died on the spot," he said in a statement.
He said police have ruled out any foul play in the incident.
"The body was sent to Tanah Merah Hospital for a post-mortem and the result showed that he died due to a crushing head injury," he added.
