Kuala Lumpur: Police have detained a veteran artist who is accused of assaulting his brother-in-law at a residential flat in Bandar Tun Razak, yesterday.
Cheras district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zam Halim Jamaluddin said the 41-year-old victim had a disagreement with the suspect at 2pm yesterday.
According to him, the suspect, who is also the victim's brother-in-law, allegedly hit and injured him on the head and body using a long iron rod.
"The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
"Acting on information, at 12:01am last night, a police team from the Cheras Criminal Investigation Department arrested the 64-year-old suspect at the Cheras district police headquarters compound.
"The suspect will be remanded for four days, starting today until March 28, to assist in the investigation," he said in a statement today (March 25).
He said that the incident occurred at the suspect's mother-in-law's house and they had quarrelled several times before due to family disputes, but this time it had escalated.
