PAKAN: The Christian community in Rumah Nyalak, Pakan and nearby areas is set to receive a significant boost with the construction of a new Borneo Evangelical Church (SIB).
The proposed church project, currently awaiting approval, has been included in the funding requests submitted to the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR).
The official groundbreaking ceremony of the SIB church at Nyalak Ladong was conducted by Pakan assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom, who is also advisor in the Sarawak Premier's Office (Food Industry, Commodities, and Regional Development).
Upon completion, the church will serve as a pivotal facility for the Christian community in the Pakan state assembly area, offering a conducive environment for worship and religious activities.
William expressed his commitment to expedite the grant application process with UNIFOR to ensure timely construction and emphasised the church's significant role in enhancing the spiritual life of the local Christian residents.
The ceremony was attended by leaders and members of the local longhouse communities, all of whom anticipate the positive impact the new church will have on their spiritual and community life.
