New multipurpose hall to benefit Kg Tesu Mawang residents

TEBEDU: The residents of Kampung Tesu Mawang are set to enjoy a new multipurpose hall, enhancing the community's accessibility to better facilities for various programmes and activities, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

According to village chief Stephen Gangig, the construction of the multipurpose hall has been eagerly anticipated by the local populace.

Previously, the community had to utilise a longhouse for events conducted by government agencies and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK). The new hall, Gangig said, will provide a more comfortable and conducive environment for these gatherings.

The project, part of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for 2023, commenced last week with a budget of RM150,000.

Due to the lack of a more suitable location, the construction is taking place on the village football field. The completion of the multipurpose hall is expected by August 2024.
