New multipurpose hall for Kg Tian Matu

MATU: The residents of Kampung Tian Matu are set to receive a new multipurpose hall, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

This announcement was made by the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya. The project, spearheaded by the Rajang Delta Development Agency, is set to kick off with a first phase costing RM15 million.

"This hall will facilitate the organisation of community programmes and activities, making it easier for residents to gather and celebrate," Juanda said during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at the Kampung Tian Matu Community Resource Centre.

The Jemoreng assemblyman also said that the completion of a new road behind Kampung Tian earlier this year has addressed long-standing parking space issues,

"Thankfully, this year there are no more complaints of insufficient parking, allowing the community to celebrate Aidilfitri without this concern," he added.

Together with his wife, Datin Shanti Achmad, Juanda spent time mingling with and handing out festive money to the attendees. Earlier in the day, they attended another festive gathering at the Kampung Sok Matu Community Resource Centre.

In his speech, Datuk Dr Juanda mentioned that the local leader's requests for better drainage have been communicated to the relevant authorities, with plans for further discussions with the Departments of Irrigation and Drainage, Land and Survey, and the District Office.

He emphasised the importance of the proposed drainage plan in identifying which houses agree to the project. He also encouraged the suggestion of economic activities for youth centres, supporting economic initiatives as a means of fostering healthy community activities.

As for the Village Expansion Scheme requests, he assured that efforts and follow-up actions would continue over time.
