Predictions not a crime, says ex-DPM's son Tamrin Ghafar Baba

KUALA LUMPUR: The son of former deputy prime minister Tun Abdul Ghafar Baba, Datuk Tamrin Ghafar today said that his latest blog post was merely a prediction.

"Making predictions is not a crime; we also predict weather forecasts and 4D forecast numbers.

"Even the prime minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) himself predicted that more people would join or support him.

"Hence, it should not be an issue (of his prediction)," said Tamrin when met by reporters outside the Federal police headquarters today.

Tamrin arrived at Bukit Aman to provide his statement this morning.

He was called in by police following a blog post on his predictions on the country's leadership and the state of Malay politics in the next 10 years.

He also revealed that he was contacted by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), asking him to take down his blog post.

Tamrin, accompanied by lawyer Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali and Badrul Hisham Shaharin, known as Chegu Bard, entered the complex at 10.50am.

On Friday (April 12), Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that police will record the statement from Tamrin today.

Earlier, on Thursday (April 11), Tamrin told the New Straits Times that he was summoned by the police over a blog post he posted, on his predictions on the country's leadership and the state of Malay politics in the next 10 years.

He said he received a telephone call on Monday (April 8) regarding a police investigation involving the April 4 post.

The blog post was titled '10 tahun lagi, DAP akan jadi Tuan', he said.

He said an officer rang him up on Wednesday (April 10) and introduced himself as an officer from Bukit Aman's Classified Crimes Investigations Unit seeking his cooperation over an investigation.
