#NSTviral: German tourists express frustration after being denied entry onto bus [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of German tourists have expressed frustration after being denied entry onto a bus at a Batu Caves stop in Gombak.

This comes as a Tiktok user identified as @big_laddo shared a video of the incident on his account which showed the tourists' explanation over the incident.

In the video, the tourists, a man and two women, were seen trying to board a RapidKL bus, but had to exit the bus after speaking with the driver.

They explained that they were unable to board the bus as they did not own any Touch 'n Go card to pay for bus fares.

"There was no information on the bus fares, (and) the bus driver told us we cannot board (the bus). (And) now I do not know how to get home," said the German man, while expressing a lack of knowledge on where to acquire cards and suggested the implementation of more convenient payment methods.

At the same time, the man also lamented the outdated and faded signs at the bus stops, making it difficult for users to read and complained about the uncomfortable waiting conditions due to the lack of shelter and proper seating.

The video has received mixed reactions from the public.

Some netizens criticised the tourists for not conducting proper research on how public transportation operates in Malaysia, adding that such situations could be avoided with proper research.

"Do not simply say don't know, (you) must study the way first before travel, this is basic information," one netizen said.

However, some tried to be more helpful, recommending to the tourists that they purchase the Touch 'n Go cards at convenience stores.

"They can search on the internet on how to use the commuter services, or just ask anyone," one said.

Some other netizens suggested that the government should consider implementing a similar system as the one used in Singapore, where credit and debit card payment options are offered.

"Why is it not Visa or Mastercard friendly? Went to Singapore recently and I just used my credit card for public transport. Easy!" said one person.
