#NSTviral: Man from Sabah offers RM500 reward to expose wife's alleged affair in Makkah

KUALA LUMPUR: A man from Sabah has gone viral after offering RM500 to anyone who can help track down a man alleged to be having an affair with his wife.

Edwind Hiew took to Facebook, stating, "To those who know the couple (in the picture attached) and can provide me with details about their workplace, please message me directly. I am willing to pay RM500 as compensation. This is for legal action. #mesticarisampaidapat."

The post included 10 screenshots of his wife's WhatsApp conversations with a doctor she had worked with while they were both stationed in Makkah as health officials from June to August last year.

Initially, the conversations seemed innocent, with the doctor asking trivial questions, according to the screenshots. However, his true intentions were revealed when he confessed his feelings for her.

The male doctor is reportedly married and has a daughter.

Hiew shared that he discovered his wife's infidelity last month after reading the WhatsApp conversations.

He proceeded to file a police report with the Seri Kembangan Police Department on July 5.

Based on Hiew's statements in the police report, the doctor had repeatedly asked his wife out and checked into a hotel in Madinah in August last year.

During their time in Madinah, the two allegedly had meals together and stayed at a luxury hotel for two nights.

Hiew filed the police report in order to initiate legal action, and he hopes that the authorities concerned and the Health Ministry will take action against the doctor.

A Twitter thread explaining the husband's situation has garnered 1.9 million views.

Many users expressed anger at the couple's actions, especially because they occurred at a holy place.

User AK47 commented, "These people are crazy."

Kimmich commented, "While others are yearning to go to Makkah and Madinah, these people are squandering it by engaging in something terrible."

Bgwan said, "If you want to have an affair, don't do it in Makkah. I'm not encouraging them, but I cannot comprehend committing such a heinous act in Makkah."

Infidelity is considered an offence under Section 37 of Act 559 (Shariah Criminal Offense Act 1997).

If found guilty, the individuals involved may face a fine of up to RM2,000 or imprisonment for up to one year, or both.

The New Straits Times is reaching out to the police for confirmation on the case.
