#NSTviral: Indonesian domestic worker makes up abuse claims in bid to return home [Watch]

JOHOR BARU: An Indonesian nursing home cleaner claimed she was abused by her employers, in a bid to return to her home country.

Her heartrending tale of the alleged abuse at the hands of her employer, was posted by TikTok account holder @mamah.azriel07, showing the helper in her 40s relating the abuse between sobs.

Her tearjerker plot was unveiled following police investigations.

Johor Baru (south) police chief Assistant Superintendent Raub Selamat said police sprang into action after the footage posted yesterday went viral.

"With the aid of the Indonesian Embassy representatives based here, police went to the premises where the alleged abuse occurred and interviewed the victim and the alleged abuser.

"Following investigations and interviews with both parties, it was revealed that there was no evidence of abuse.

"Her motivation for fabricating the incident was solely based on her intention to return to her hometown in Indonesia," he said.

The helper was handed over to the embassy officers for further action, as her employers decided against lodging a report against her.

Raub advised the public members to always verify the authenticity of their content before posting them.

"It's better not to jump into conclusions, and make baseless allegations, which would result in actions taken by irresponsible parties spreading fake information," he said.

The four-minute and 29-second video featured a short-haired woman sobbing while lamenting to another woman about the alleged mistreatment.

The footage also showed visible red marks on her back and arms.
