#NSTviral: Netizen expresses frustration with negligent parcel delivery man

KUALA LUMPUR: In the age of online shopping, the convenience of having items delivered directly to our doorsteps comes with an expectation of professionalism and care from the delivery men.

However, a recent incident captured through a Reddit user's closed circuit television camera (CCTV) has highlighted the alarming disregard for customer property by some delivery personnel.

The incident, shared by u/RespectPretty4929, unfolded when their CCTV footage caught a delivery man handling their parcel with such negligence.

"Instead of taking a few extra steps to place the parcel in a safer location, such as a bench or a shoe rack, the driver callously tossed it onto the ground with unnecessary force.

"What followed was a swift act of karma as a nearby dog seized the opportunity and snatched the parcel," the user wrote.

Although the delivery man managed to retrieve the parcel after a brief chase, the damage was already done, leaving the user frustrated at the lack of care exhibited.

"The e-commerce platform ought to take action and reconsider its partnership with their delivery providers in general. Despite their promises in the past, it's clear that nothing has been done to ensure such a reckless act to be ceased.

"While I understand that delivery personnel may face busy days and quotas, this behaviour is unacceptable and reflects a lack of professionalism. There is no excuse for such an act.

"The item in question was not only relatively expensive but also delicate and susceptible to damage. I'm left shocked and speechless by this incident."

"Despite attempting to address the issue with the delivery man, he simply ignored me, offering no apology or response for such an act.

The negligent act by the delivery man also saw negative reactions from fellow Reddit users.

User u/KamenUncle calls for the delivery man to be blacklisted.

"This sort of behaviour cannot be accepted nor forgiven," the user commented.

Meanwhile, another user u/Whusler also shared the bad experience with the delivery services.

"If you live in the condominium, things get more ridiculous, the guard doesn't allow them to bring up delivery to your unit since Covid time or even to leave your parcel at the guard house (this includes food delivery) because they don't want to be responsible for the missing parcel.

"The delivery man refuses to wait for your availability to collect the parcel, instead they engage with any food stall nearby the guard house to take care of your parcel and leave," the user commented.
